How do you knock out Meryl mgs1? ›

Simply knock out Meryl by using CQC or throwing her, avoiding using her gun or breaking her neck in the process. After you've knocked her out, Psycho Mantis will reveal himself.

The Meryl Ending allows Meryl to survive the end of the game and is the canon ending to the game (as shown in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.) Meryl's survival in Metal Gear Solid is entirely dependent on how players handle Ocelot's torture scene.

Take it easy. If you submit, Meryl dies. If you escape (between any of the rounds of torture), Meryl lives. Those who are ignorant of the mistakes of history are doomed to repeat them.

Opponents can be stunned using stun grenades, using a choke or by hitting them enough times (a hit in the head or crotch = instant knockout). This method of disabling the player's opponents is encouraged, as they often give more items when searched if they have been knocked out over being killed.

In order to reach Meryl and ask her to open the cargo bay doors, call 140.15 on the codec. If the player is already near the cargo, then they will need to wait for her to gain access and open the doors manually, so it's best to either hide from the guards or use this extra time to scrounge for items in the base.

On the back of the PlayStation case is a screenshot of a codec conversation with Meryl showing her frequency, 140.15, in plain view. This is the only way to find out Meryl's codec number. At no point in the game will anyone tell you, or is there any other way to find it.
